5 bikes, which one is a possibility? (Road racing bike)?
OK so i went to brands today to look into bikes. This is my first road/racing bike. I saw a few bikes in there that looked interesting plus everything is on sale just for this weekend! The sales assistant measured me for a 56 bike. So if you have any knowledge of these bikes please let me know, Im looking for something thats decent off the bat for me to start riding (I’d like to do some races/charity events, starting off maybe 35 miles to see how i do and working up 65 + eventually) with no upgrades right away. I need to make a decision before the sale ends haha thanks.
I think the treks were all about $799
Trek 1.2 C 2010
Trek 1.5 C 2010
Trek 1.2 2009
Specialized Sequoa 09 $729
Specialized allez 09 $749
…. The man did show me a Specialized Elite 2010 (she was a beauty) on sale for $999 but Its really difficult to go over $800 and being its my first bike.
Thanks guys, yes it is the allez elite. So very nice but my instinct tells me to stay cheaper (one because i dont have that much money and…) because what if this doesnt work out, its alot of money to spend. Ive ran long distance for the past 7 years and need something new, so maybe this is my major next step for of being athletic and keeping in shape.
The bikes are similar–aluminum frames and carbon forks. For the money the specialized All ez from 09 is a nice bike. Shimano 105 components. Not bad for a $750 bike. Great first bike.
Edit: remember you will need money for shoes, helmet, shorts, cyclometer, car rack maybe, etc.
Not quite sure from your question just which Specialized Elite you were talking about. Elite refers to one version of many models, it is not a model on its own. If it was the Allez Elite and it really caught your eye, perhaps you should stretch your budget. It might be tough now, but if you enjoy cycling, you may soon regret not spending that extra in a few months. It is also very motivating to get out with that fantastic new bike you are so proud of and start zooming down the road. Both Trek and Specialized are good companies with great dealer networks, a plus if you ever run into problems with your new bike. I work for a company that distributes another brand of quality bikes, so when I tell you this you can be sure that I am not trying to sell you something. My advice? Follow your instinct.
