good biker for my first motocross racing?
I am a 5’7, 130lb, in shape girl starting motocross racing this summer, and at the moment I am riding an rt100. anyone have any suggestions on what kind of bike i should buy?
also I do know that i am going to race. I already have done some racing around my ranch and on our track, against some neighbors, and I loved it.
Once you’ve been to a race and are still itching to race then you’ll want get a proper bike that will fit your needs if you haven’t already (Check out my other posts What Dirt Bike Should I Buy? and How To Buy A Dirt Bike if you need help). If you haven’t heard me say it already, it’s the rider and not the bike when it comes to racing. That’s usually the case, but when you’re looking for you first bike to race, it’s critical that you get a good running and solid dirt bike so that it won’t break down on you. Choosing one that fits your riding style and experience is important as well, because you don’t want to start motocross racing on a bike that you can’t handle.
Everything Eliza Jane said was spot on, I’d just add that once you get into racing, you’ll have a much better idea of what bikes are good value and what’s appropriate for your racing class. I’ve never met a racer yet that wouldn’t talk bikes with you for hours, so ask around the pits.
You don’t need the latest and greatest straight away. The important thing is to get out there and do it.
Good luck!
