Team Bikeforce Geralton – Bmx Racing
Team Bikeforce from Woorree Park in Western Australia, has taken the competition by storm. Competing in all the Super Series, North West Titles as well as State and National Title events, their unlimited confidence has sent them flying both on the bikes and in the results.
The team was put together in February 2008 by Bevan Mauger, who runs and owns Bikeforce Geraldton because they wanted to show the Perth kids what they were made of.
Josh Mauger, who has been racing for 18 months, loves riding on the team because he learns new techniques from his team members and exchanges his techniques in return, which helps them move up a level. Team mates are great, especially when they clean you up when you jump. In Josh’s case, his mate wiped out the front of his bike. Is that the new technique?
Khyle Davis has been riding for 3 months and also likes the fact your team mates push you to the next level. “It’s funny when we biff and barge each other on the track”. But he wasn’t laughing when he fell off doing something new and grazed his back one morning. It was 7 am on a Sunday morning with the rest of us worlds away in our sleeping bags whilst he rode off to tackle a jump over the four pack! That teaches him for not sleeping in on a Sunday!
Sam Payling has been riding since August. The first thing that should be said about him, is be warned if you’re camping out with him and he has a zipper on his swag! You won’t get any sleep if you don’t attack him with some pillows. But on a lighter note, he loves the team and says “I got into the team because I’m from Pommy Land”. He’s working on his riding experience which started in Geraldton and in his first race, fell off a metre from the finish line. In a recent North West Titles event in Karratha, he sprained his wrist when he went too fast up a jump and missed his brakes. Oh dear!
David Sanderson has been riding for four months and loves the good experience. “Road trips are fun, especially the conversations” he says. Well, we won’t get into that! A little while ago in Geraldton, he was clipped by another rider and fell over the handlebars, resulting in fluid collecting in his elbow.
Perhaps it’s the influence of the American BMX movies where everyone’s either trying to take each other out or see who can fall the hardest. Whatever it is, you can’t deny the talent of the Team Bikeforce. They won’t stop at nothing, especially when they can give it everything they have!
