would it be ok if i ride a BMX bike as an everyday bike to school?

apart from the main uses of a BMX.. i noticed that BMX bikes are relatively cheaper thatn other lifestyle bikes and his design is cooler too. n im wondering if this bike is suitable for everyday riding like to school and nearby shops …like a student bike suffice to say..thanks!
and also comfort wise? i’ve noticed BMX riders usually dont sit one the saddle much coz of the tricks. so is it still comfortable for me to ride it one the road for quite some time?

Do whatever you like, thats what is great about America. BMX bikes are much cooler than the other types of bikes in my opinion.

rode mine almost every day to college. there are certainly more efficient bikes out there, but ride what you ride.

If you pop the seat up higher than the stunters have theirs, a BMX makes a fine everyday bike.

You wouldn’t want to go any distance on one.

Back and forth to school is probably OK, but the geometry is all wrong for efficiently generating horsepower (and speed!) on long rides.

But you’re a kid. Ride what you enjoy. At least you’re out doing it instead of parking your butt on the couch. Remember, its legal to have more than one bike. I’ve got a tri-bike, a road bike, a mountain bike, a beater for riding to town (its a piece of junk – no one will steal it!), I even have a BMX in the shed for when the grandkids visit.

P.S. Don’t forget your helmet. Maybe if you show the other kids its cool, they’ll wear too. We need more cyclists around. Can’t afford to lose them to head injury. ;^)~

What’s cool is one’s own opinion. I wouldn’t choose a BMX to ride places but if you can crank the seat up high enough to sit comfortably while you ride I guess you could get by with it. No gears, small frame and low seat is what makes them great for tricks and horrible for riding very far.

I ride my BMX bike several miles almost every day. I have a long (350cm) seatpost and a Terry Liberator Y Gel seat. Comfort isn’t an issue, and neither is lack of speed.
